WHAT TO EXPECT
At the completion of this one-day training course you will have been provided with the knowledge to conduct a three-meeting parent education course or to teach the main tenets of the program in a one-to-one setting at your centre.
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
- A comprehensive manual to teach parents the Engaging Adolescents™ program in a few one-to-one sessions or in a three meeting parent program.
- A CD slideshow parent presentation.
- Session-by-session guidelines for parents meetings.
- Lunch and am/pm refreshments are also provided.
AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM YOU WILL RECEIVE:
- A licence to teach the program for two years. At the end of two years you will need to renew your licence. In the past, this has included purchasing the newest edition of the materials (less than $50.00). Some professionals find it helpful to re-train, if you wish to attend the courses again you are eligible for a refresher discount when you attend Engaging Adolescents again.
- A certificate of completion.

- New understandings of adolescence: a time of redeveloping social landscapes, brain snaps and body make-overs.

- A flowchart for decision making
- Self check-in, first For parents: family of origin issues, trauma issues and how to avoid over reacting or becoming angry too often with your teenager.
- Building relationship with your teenager and making the best of the non-crisis conversations you have with them
- Tough conversations for handling those problems you just can’t ignore How to figure out the problem, how to prepare for engaging your teenager in a tough conversation, and how to set-up agreements.
